Frequently asked questions
Direct answers about Ontario’s 2026 employer rules and about how EmployerReady works. Rules current to October 23, 2026. Plain-language summaries, not legal advice.
Who has to file the AODA compliance report in 2026?
Ontario businesses and non-profits with 20 or more employees in Ontario that provide goods, services or facilities to the public or to other businesses. The report is due December 31, 2026 and then every three years. Organizations with fewer than 20 employees do not file (O. Reg. 191/11 s. 86.1), but the accessibility standards still apply to them.
What does the AODA report ask?
At 20 to 49 employees, one question: whether you comply with the Customer Service Standards, yes or no. At 50 or more, a yes/no question on each applicable part of the accessibility standards. A director, senior officer or other person with authority to bind the organization certifies the answers (AODA s. 15). Filing is free on the Accessibility Compliance Reporting Portal.
Do you file the report for me?
No. We do not file anything with the Government of Ontario on your behalf and we never ask for your portal credentials. We prepare the policies, notices, training outline and worksheet that stand behind each answer; your certifier files.
I have fewer than 20 employees. Do I need any of this?
You do not file the compliance report and the 25-employee Employment Standards Act rules do not apply to you. The accessibility standards themselves do apply at one or more employees if you serve the public or other businesses: accessibility and customer service policies, training on the standards and the Human Rights Code, accessible formats on request and a feedback process. The free check tells you which items apply at your size.
What does EmployerReady produce?
Documents, checklists and job posting checks built from Ontario’s published rules and your answers to one questionnaire. Depending on your size: accessibility policies and notices, the compliance report worksheet, the disconnecting from work and electronic monitoring policies, the new hire information sheet, the 45-day interview notice, a job posting compliance kit and a compliance calendar. Each document arrives as an editable Word file and a PDF, cites the section it satisfies and states the date the rules were current to.
Is this legal advice?
No. EmployerReady is not a law firm and its documents and guides are plain-language summaries of published rules, not legal advice. The wording has been checked against the law texts but has not been reviewed by a lawyer. You remain responsible for your organization’s compliance and for reviewing the documents before you adopt them.
How do you decide which rules apply to me?
With fixed tests written from the regulations: your number of employees in Ontario, whether you serve the public or other businesses, and a few yes/no facts. No language model decides whether a rule applies to you. A model is used only, and optionally, to polish the wording of a job posting rewrite, and its output is discarded if it does not match the facts you entered.
What happens when the rules change?
A daily job checks the nine official sources listed on the methodology page for changes. A change is reviewed by a person, the rule set is updated and versioned, and documents built on the old version are marked outdated in your workspace. While Keep-Current is active we re-issue your documents on the new version. Every document states the date the rules it is based on were current to.
How current are the rules right now?
The rules in the documents and guides are current to October 23, 2026. The methodology page explains how that date is set and lists the nine official sources we watch.
How do you count employees?
Count people in Ontario, not full-time equivalents: full-time, part-time, casual, seasonal and contract employees, including staff on leave or probation, across all your Ontario locations. Volunteers and independent contractors are not employees, so they are not counted, and nor is staff outside Ontario. For the ESA policies the count is taken on January 1; for job postings, on the day of posting; for the new hire information sheet, on the employee’s first day.
Where is my data stored?
On our servers, operated by LLnet Inc. on infrastructure in Canada. The free checks are not saved at all. If you buy, your questionnaire answers and documents are stored and reached through a private link sent to your email address; we store the link encrypted. Stripe processes payments; we never see your card number. See the privacy page for the full list.
Is anything sent outside Canada?
Payments are processed by Stripe. If wording polish is enabled for a job posting rewrite, the posting text, your organization’s name, your accommodation contact email and your pay, vacancy and AI statements are sent to Anthropic in the United States to produce the draft; nothing else from your profile is sent. That is the complete list.
How do I get back into my workspace?
Through the private link emailed to you when you bought. If you lose it, enter your purchase email on the find my workspace page and we will send it again. Keep the link private: anyone who has it can open your workspace.
Can I get a refund?
Yes, within the period set out in our terms, if you are not satisfied. Email support@employerready.com from the address you bought with. A refunded purchase ends access to the workspace.
What does it cost and what is included?
The current price and what the Deadline Pack and Keep-Current include are listed on the pricing section of the home page. The Deadline Pack is a one-time purchase in Canadian dollars plus applicable tax; Keep-Current is an optional subscription you can cancel at any time.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. Email support@employerready.com from the address you bought with and we will delete your workspace, answers, documents and interview records. Backups are kept for a limited time, so deleted data leaves them once that time has passed. Payment records are kept as tax law requires.
Are you affiliated with the Government of Ontario?
No. EmployerReady is a private service operated by LLnet Inc. in Cochrane, Ontario. Nothing on this site is an official form or notice, and the government’s own portal and guidance pages remain the authoritative source.
