Businesses and non-profits with 20 or more employees in Ontario file the accessibility compliance report by December 31, 2026. Filing is free and online. This walkthrough follows the government’s page “Completing your accessibility compliance report” (last updated February 19, 2026). The screens may change; the government page is the authority.
Before you start
The government page lists what you need:
- your organization’s legal name;
- your business number (the BN9 on your federal or provincial tax return);
- your number of employees (see how to count); and
- the name and contact information of the person who will certify the report.
Also have your answers settled before you sign in. What the report asks at your size, and what must be true to answer “yes”, is in the AODA compliance report 2026 guide and the checklist.
Who certifies
The report is certified by a director, senior officer or other responsible person with authority to bind the organization (AODA s. 15(1)), and may be signed electronically (s. 15(2)). The government page describes the certifier as “a senior officer with legal authority to say that the report is complete and accurate.”
Steps on the portal
- Open the Accessibility Compliance Reporting Portal and select “Sign In/Create Account”.
- Enter an email address, create a password and follow the on-screen instructions to register.
- Sign in.
- Select “New Submission” and choose the “Accessibility Compliance Report” option.
- Answer the questions. When you are done, select “Submit” at the bottom of the screen.
The government also publishes a step-by-step user guide for the portal.
Filing for related organizations
The government page says one filing can cover up to 20 organizations if they have the same organization category, the same employee range, the same certifier, and the same answers to every compliance question.
After you submit
- A confirmation email with a confirmation number goes to the certifier and the primary contact (government page). Keep it.
- Make the report available to the public (AODA s. 14(2)).
- If your address, primary contact, number of employees, or status changes, update your organization’s profile on the portal (government page).
More in after you file.
Need the form in another format?
The government page says to email AODA.assistance@ontario.ca for an alternative format.
